Questions for Hierarchical Confucianism

Abstract Through a new argumentative strategy, this article shows that the claims offered by some contemporary Confucian scholars in support of hierarchical social relations do not hold societies. Exegetical disagreements are arguably difficult to overcome sidestepped and empirical Confucianism assessed. Empirical evidence recent developments Western philosophy suggest hierarchies detrimental key factors for people's material well-being, ethical development, political order. Egalitarian organized representative democratic system appear be more suitable pursuit fundamental aims government which accepted proponents Confucianism.
